I get my greatest satisfaction in photography from photographing owls. Although they are not particularly rare, they are hard to spot, and even harder to photograph due to their habitat and nocturnal behaviour. Burrowing owls, threatened in Canada, are prevalent in South America and I have seen them on business trips in Paraguay and Brazil………..including in downtown Brasilia a city of about 4 million! Our fascination with owls is such that most people will not post sightings listing location anymore as the birds are harassed by those wanting to see and photograph them.
