Severely threatened by pesticides in the 1960’s and 1970’s, eagles are making a comeback. It is now common to see bald eagles in Southern Ontario, Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana, where in the past they were rare. Several years ago, I was lucky enough to be able to access a nest in Henderson County from which I was able to observe and photograph the comings and goings. That nest however was destroyed by a winter storm. The most impressive sight however is the gathering of eagles for the runs of fish (salmon in particular) on the Pacific Coast.
